If we can produce such a strangelet, we will have climbed another step on the technological ladder. So far we were just able to destroy our planet (well, tickle its surface a bit and throw back evolution by 10 million years), but if we can produce a strangelet, it can destroy all of the universe
Seriously, there are cosmic rays (which hit the earth zillions of times) with energies which let the LHC appear like an air rifle, being up to 10,000,000 times higher and even more.|||Quote:
Did you read it "Large Hardon Collider" too?
I know I did.|||The what-if debate about strangelets and mini black holes isn't a new one... Hasn't stopped progress and probably won't either. Fine by me.|||Me too.
Unless the "universe will be destroyed" people are right.|||Quote:

Fine by me then too, as long as everyone else gets dragged down along with me.:hide:|||I would think if you could actually destroy the universe this way, we are going to do it anyhow so let's find out.|||That's the scientific spirit!|||How long would it take for the world to be destroyed?|||Quote:

It doesn't seem like it would take that long, but I guess it depends on how long it takes to convert matter into strange matter.|||Quote:

Something that fits neatly into a four-digit countdown clock and is roughly the length of a feature film.
