"He's the white, younger guy in home office..."
"There are like 12 of those"
"You know, he has really super short hair, kind of a widow's peak thing, sandy blonde...."
"Oh, you mean the guy with one arm?!?"
"Ummm... yeah....."
It's like they're afraid to point out someone is different. They won't identify the only black man as a black man, or the only person in a wheelchair as being in a wheelchair. The whole point when identifying one individual in a group IS to define a noticeable characteristic of that individual... by not doing so you're just wasting my time....|||Communication is a two way thing
You got a data source though so make query's and find out.
In a office setting many will not first ID the token by the factor that makes them a token.
Even if he/she's not a token but just looks like one.
If I said the guy with 1 arm to the PC ***** I'm in trouble.
But see we both don't like the PC *****
We probably piss all the PC *****es off though?
and the prior 1500+ years was all our rules...
Just a hint for those of you that are slow.
Politeness and social courtesy does not qualify if it still allows the subject to be discussed.
It's not pointless or stupid, and if your working globally you need to encourage a understanding of it if you want efficient communication across levels.|||Quote:
What makes the above two worse is that when you hold your ground they look at you like you are the ***hole.
It might help to avoid eye contact, else they expect you to do somwething about it. Try pretending to look elsewhere. I'm doing that when crossing the street on a crosswalk (while still having an eye at the cars, of course), that way the car drivers take more care.|||Quote:

and I thoWght you just talked that way.
Oh! Oh! I Know
"Teasing Mod's"
Opps!
BobCox Looks Away ...|||I didn't mean it as avoiding a confrontation or as a gesture of submission, just as pretending not to take care.
If I seek a confrontation in here, people often feel intimidated or freak out completely, so what can I do about it? Ban the idiots? My participation in these forums involves moderation, I cannot always solve that problem by "taking the mod hat off", it's not that simple. So you will have to live with me being a bit more politically correct in some cases.
Thank god the mods aren't elected, else they would be even more like politicians .|||Quote:
Have you knocked down any little kid's yet? They run without looking all the time and watch out for those groups of people in wheelchairs and strollers they have low mass and a real Attitude sometimes.
Hey and did you Knock-up any of the women after you knocked them down?
I've had a kid run into me and then fall down before. The mother glared at me like I was some kind of criminal. This isn't dodgeball, lady, and I'm not out.|||Those are not duck faces. It means... er, nevermind.|||Quote:

How many letters of the word "duck" do you need to change to make it correct?

Kids here are suicidal esp when they just got an expensive waveboard. I don't get it. They just keep running in front of my bike and whilst I'm able to stop I cannot always stop in time. So why is it my fault when a stupid woman is yelling at me because her kid didn't look and just ran off the pavement straight onto the road?
She caught me in a bad mood, and nobody warned her unfortunately.
When she started yelling at me how careless I was (for cycling on the cycling lane...) and how her precious child could have died, I told her that if the kid had died, she could just have made a new one, as this one obviously didn't mean that much to her if she let it run straight onto the road and that anyways, the process of making a new child might do her sour face some good.
I'm rarely this annoyed but honestly, she was getting on my nerves.|||WOW! Viv.... lol! bra-****ing-vo!!! lol, that's awesome!
Ogre, if it helps, i have had kids bump into me while i was carrying a full tray of food. luckily, i did not drop it. kids running around a restaurant is not good and if you are a parent who allows this, STOP IT! many accidents CAN be prevented by telling your kid, "If you move one inch from that chair, I'm going to take you out to the car and beat you senseless and idc if they call the cops on me. You're my kid. I have the right to discipline you!"
