Top-down RPGs: What art style do you prefer, square or diamond? - Page 2

"diamond" does make it much more dynamic.

also, hexagons are awesome. I remember the old Ad&D, where not not only the position a character was on the battlefield was relevant, but also the side which he was facing - so that he can be flanked, backstabbed, or properly attacked from the front.|||on the subject of diamond 2/3rds perspective

SONIC 3D BLAST

ARGH YOU RUINED SONIC WITH YOUR ****TY PERSPECTIVE

if controls don't matter, then the 2/3s might be a better visual but never sacrifice gameplay for a ****ty camera, unless its charming enough to work (RE/Biohazard)

**also that picture could not be drawing more attention to the giant thing labeled porn that mario/jumpman is jumping over in the center of the screen, so go ahead and use normal sized type|||Quote:

Ah, yes, D&D where 45 minutes go by to sort things out while 2 seconds pass in the gameworld. Someone should make an old school D&D thread, b/c I have many bad experiences to report!|||For me it's plain 2D, mainly because I don't feel like dealing with the magics of the isometric perspective. If I didn't have to do all the programming by myself, I would most definitely do isometric, but since I don't really have any friends that program, I'd find it an unnecessary hassle Good luck with your game techno. Better share it with us when you're done or I'll hack your microwave!|||Quote:

That and cosmic encounters are the best hex games.

I still play both with 4-6 players.

Isometric isn't incredibly more difficult, and as a bonus, you really only have to figure it out once. I don't know if there will ever be a game come out of it though, I've got tons of ideas, but this is just techno playtime atm. If it ever does turn into a game though, I'll be sure to share with you guys! I like my microwave too much!

You're so adorable Ash, you could suck the air out of intergalactic space!

I actually missed the porn at first, so I thought it was clever when I noticed it. Amra.
