[:1]I have decided on a Newfie. I now have to find a reputable breeder and that is the hard part.|||Please don't tell me what he sound's like on Helium.
|||I've personally have always been partial to my Black Labrador Retriever ^^ I've never really liked huge-dogs cos' I've read they die faster and I just dislike that idea D:|||I was heartbroken a few weeks back. There was a Newfie on Petfinder that I looked at every day for about a month. Finally, I just submitted the application to adopt him and someone adopted him the day before. His name is Tank. I wish he could have been a part of my home.|||i know someone that has a nice collar that will fit a newf.|||Does the dog want you? Would it want you if it were only a little smarter?|||I just miss getting adoption on brindle Great Dane a month or two ago.
Feel your pain|||Quote:

If it was a little smarter, it would run to me. Newfie speaking at least. Any other dog, I haven't wanted in years.
Bob, there is a great dane up for adoption who is deaf. Beautiful dog but in order to adopt him one has to have experience with deaf commands.
I did find a breeder of Newfies fairly close to me. Going to call and visit them soon.|||This is a nice thread. I'm looking into getting a dog myself. I'm seriously considering a german shepherd dog, either a Czech line or an East German line. They're working line so they're more protected from genetic defects attributed to inbreeding. On the other hand, I understand that they could be a handful that will often challenge me for pack leadership as they mature.
Anyone own a working line GSD before and could give me some insight?|||German shepherds are kind of "overbred" (correct term?), they tend to get problems with their back and hip joints. I heard the German police is about to change to the Belgian variant.
